On June 11th, 2020, the CLI together with the Swiss Development Cooperation organized a webinar under the title “Digitizing paper trails in the forest industry of Peru”. The event informed about the latest development of digital technologies used to fight illegal logging in the Amazon rain forest. The CLI use case “The Wood Protocol”, which was introduced at the event combines a smartphone application with the access to a blockchain network in order to facilitate the documentation of work performed by participants in the wood processing chain. The event also informed about ongoing work of the Peruvian government and USAid to track the legal origin of wood in the Amazon region.
